Did you know that on 31 October 2011, the world’s population will reach 7 billion people? This is definitely an amazing achievement but while we are all celebrating the gift of life, we tend to forget the implications a world of seven billion people has on our environment, infrastructure, employment & overall well-being and standards of living.
The United Nations has therefore started an innovative global campaign – 7 Billion Actions – to build awareness around seven key issues we are (now, and have been for a while) facing:
- Poverty
- Women empowerment
- Health Accessibility and services
- Young people
- Ageing population
- Environment
- Urbanization/Infrastructure
Inspiring the likes of governments, businesses, media and individuals all around the world to take actions that will have a positive impact now and into the future, will ensure future generations have the opportunity to really live life. Together we can renew global commitment for a healthy and sustainable world.
For more information about 7 Billion Actions, please visit the website here. This initiative is also funded by The United Nations Population Fund.
Go ahead. Be inspired and join the global movement for all humanity. You can make the world a better place.
